What is 'homecare'?
There is often some confusion in choosing between care homes and homecare. The difficulty arises in deciding whether appropriate care can be provided in a persons own home or if it must take place in a regulated and managed care place where there is adequate nursing, social care or therapies on site. Although both sectors specialise in providing help and support when needed, care homes are generally necessary when a person needs 24hr care and support for their safety, nutritional and medication requirements. This may often be for the older person but not necessarily. Either choice can be used for short term or long term care, for acute conditions as well as chronic and terminal illness or disability.
Here at Tendacare, we offer homecare. Homecare does what it says on the tin, and brings care to the home. It is well documented that being in a familiar surroundings is known to improve mental health so our highly trained and skilled professional staff visit clients in their own houses to provide help, support and assistance where needed.
Every client is different and we understand they each require person centred care plans to cater for their needs. Sometimes the plans are adjusted quite soon to get them just right, other times they remain in place for a long time.
Decreasing or increasing in time, we monitor visits to ensure our care sessions are meeting the needs of the people we look after. Our care sessions last between 30 minutes and two hours, run from 7am to 9pm, and are available all year round. Having homecare in place enriches lives by enhancing quality of living and can give peace of mind.
The tasks and activities our care staff undertake can vary greatly but common areas include meal preparation, dressing, bathing, administering medication and even transportation to appointments. By opting for an in-depth homecare service like ours it means clients can maintain independence in the comfort of their own property, keep control, and have peace of mind that their needs are well looked after.
One of the most important pieces of feedback we receive about our homecare is that it provides invaluable company. Our staff are not only recruited for their ability and aptitude but personality is also key. Having a friendly and cheerful character is crucial for social stimulation, and it reassures clients that they will be cared for with compassion and respect.
