Trained staff who really care
As a trusted care provider in the Surrey area, we're aware that our great local reputation rests to a large extent on the skills and effectiveness of our staff.
We have a wonderful team of compassionate homecare assistants, and regularly recruit new employees to ensure we can fully meet the demands of our growing list of clients across Leatherhead, Bookham, Fetcham, Ashtead and Epsom.
While problems in providing social care are often reported in the press, the 'good news' stories tend to remain in the background. There are certainly challenges facing all care providers as winter approaches, but here at Tendacare we like to focus on the positives. This means that each day we concentrate on delivering the very best caring, practical and friendly services that enable our clients to retain independence in their own homes.
How do we do this? Building a dedicated and talented workforce is key. During the recruitment process, we vet applicants to ensure they have no criminal record. Character and professional references must also be provided, and these, along with a face-to-face interview, give us a strong sense of whether the applicant has the warm, trustworthy and reliable nature required to succeed in a caring profession.
Whether or not our staff have previous experience, they all take part in Tendacare's tailored training sessions and are required to achieve the accredited Care Certificate.
Before undertaking home visits independently, new staff spend time shadowing an established employee to help them master our tried-and-tested protocols and routines.
One of our policies is that staff do not carry clients' house keys with them. We've found that both staff and clients prefer the peace of mind that comes with keeping keys in a password-protected key box attached to the property. These highly-secure boxes can only be opened with the correct code, allowing enhanced confidentiality and reassurance for homecare assistants, clients and their families.
Of course, training doesn't end once an employee has settled into their new role. As great believers in lifelong learning, here at Tendacare we offer regular training courses to ensure we all keep up-to-date with the latest thinking and best practises.
