Providing a friendly face

We may be biased, but we think our staff really are the best. Our Tendacare employees are not only well trained and highly capable, but they're also skilled at making you feel at ease while they are in your home. A friendly face can make all the difference in homecare, especially when you're feeling vulnerable.

The type of staff we employ
Before we take on an employee, as well as the absolute requirements, we look out for three main characteristics which are:

  1. A friendly and warm character
  2. Trustworthy and reliable nature
  3. Pro-active and positive personality
Home care can be hard work, and our staff have a strong work ethic to consistently provide the gold standard of care we and our clients would expect.

To maintain this friendliness, we support our staff with regular one-to-one supervisions to ensure that we cover all aspects of their work. Therefore, we are always up-to-date and on top of any issues that may arise, to ensure that we can keep providing our professional and friendly service. Having an honest and open policy is one of the reasons why Tendacare is so successful.

Staff training
We employ staff who either already have experience in the homecare industry or who are just starting out their careers. No matter how qualified they are, everybody on our team must go through our bespoke training process to ensure that our ethos and friendly approach are at the forefront of everything they do.

All our staff are also DBS (criminal record) checked, as per the law in Britain for people working in health and social care. This gives peace of mind to the client, and their family, that our employees are safe to work with as well as trustworthy.

We believe that people learn by experience, so we take our staff through a period of shadowing so that they can observe, practice and solidify their training with more experienced members of staff.

However, not all our training is practical. Every Tendacare employee must complete a theory based workbook so they can learn the academic side of homecare and understand the skills required to provide safe and compassionate care.

Once they've completed their training, our staff receive their Care Certificate which is a set national standard to be reached.

Testimonials
We encourage all our clients and their families to tell us how they feel about our service, and we are always delighted to receive such consistent positive feedback.

We always endeavour to give our clients the same carer so that they can build a trusting relationship and a comfortable routine. Our clients have commented on how great we are with timekeeping, and how much they look forward to our visits.
